Dr. Susan Patrick is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). iNACOL is the leading voice for the emerging field of online and blended learning. Representing a diverse cross-section of K-12 education, including school districts, educators, state education agencies, universities, education reformers, and a variety of content and technology providers, iNACOL serves the field through education and advocacy aimed at building the capacity of online and blended learning professionals, publishing national quality standards, and shaping the direction of the field as a whole. In 2011 she was named to the International Advisory Board for the European Union program for lifelong learning/virtual education.

Patrick is the former Director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. Previously, she worked for Governor Hull in Arizona as legislative liaison on technology policy issues. She was also a Site Director for Old Dominion University’s TELETECHNET distance learning program.

Patrick holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and a bachelor’s degree from the Colorado College. She was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Colorado College in 2011.

Patrick was the first woman to play in the men’s intramural football league at the Colorado College.

Dr. Allison Powell is the Vice President for State and District Services of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL), which provides expertise and leadership in K-12 Online Learning. Working at iNACOL, Allison has helped write the National Standards for Quality and several other documents to expand and improve the field of K-12 online learning.

Before joining iNACOL, Allison taught in both face-to-face and online K-8 environments. She has been working in the field of online learning for the past ten years, starting as a K-8 online teacher for Odyssey Charter Schools in Las Vegas, NV. After teaching in the online environment, the Clark County School District asked her to help start the Virtual High School in the fifth largest school district in the country. In her role as an administrator for the program, she helped with training teachers, building courses, overseeing technology, and educating leaders on the benefits of online learning.

Allison was charged with starting an online professional development program for the school district to allow all administrators, teachers, and district staff to meet their training needs in a more flexible environment.

Allison regularly shares her expertise in K-12 online education by speaking at various education and policy meetings and events around the world. She has served on several boards for various schools and organizations and was a co-founder and served as a board member of the Nevada Online Education Consortium. Allison completed her doctorate in educational technology from Pepperdine University.

Maria Worthen is Vice President for Federal and State Policy at iNACOL. Prior to joining iNACOL, Maria served as Education Policy Advisor to the Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa. She also worked at the US Department of Education, serving as Congressional Liaison in the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs, Program Officer in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, and Presidential Management Fellow in the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools.

Earlier in her career, Maria was a pre-school teacher and a social worker, practicing with at-risk children and youth in a variety of settings. An Iowa native, she holds a B.A. in Government and Italian Language and Literature from Smith College and a Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.

Andrew Schwartz is the Vice President of Information Technology and Digital Strategy at iNACOL. Andrew brings 20 years of experience to his current role and is tasked with leading the vision and execution of the technical initiatives for internal operations and iNACOL's web strategy. Andrew’s daily role includes systems analysis, requirements development, project management and technical oversight.

Prior to joining iNACOL, Andrew was a Sr. Vice President and Technical Director at FleishmanHilard. At FleishmanHillard, he was responsible for providing a wide variety of clients with technical strategy for web and mobile applications.

Earlier in his career, he was a critical component in launching revolutionhealth.com, a web portal that provides online health care information and tools. Andrew began his career at America Online where he worked as a developer and Technical Manager for 12 years.
