Sown To Grow’s learning platform empowers students through goal-setting, reflection, and learning strategies personalized for each individual learner. In our software, students set learning goals, track their own progress, and write reflections on the strategies that work best for them (or new ones to try). With feedback from teachers and insights from our software, students get better at the process of learning and have significantly stronger academic outcomes – with differential impact for students who are behind. Mindsets Challenges are real-world, inquiry based lessons which enable students to apply their math skills to immerse in deep learning as they predict, analyze, collaborate and make decisions using an entrepreneurial mindset in career and world of work roles.
The tool is both student and teacher facing, students join a stream of the lesson using a class code , while working in pairs/small teams. To personalize learning, students see their classmates responses to live polls and anonymous answer boards and reason/justify their proposals and decisions . Teachers facilitate and monitor the class using the live tools in the app, including stopping students to check in for understanding and to encourage group and class discussion. The Challenges are aligned to the major CCSS and NGSS standards providing teachers, schools and districts a full year teaching library.
